Biography of Paul Landers

Paul Heiko Landers, also known as one of the guitarists of the German industrial metal band Rammstein, was born on December 9, 1964 in Berlin, Germany. He is of German and Polish descent, with his mother being Polish and his father coming from German-speaking areas of Czechoslovakia.

Landers grew up in Berlin, specifically in the Baumshulenweg district. He had a relatively ordinary childhood, attending school and participating in various activities. However, he was often seen as a mischievous and unruly student by his teachers.

From a young age, Landers had a strong interest in music. He started learning to play the piano and later tried his hand at the clarinet. However, he quickly lost interest in these instruments and instead became captivated by the guitar. At the age of 14, he discovered an old guitar in his father's closet and began teaching himself how to play.

Throughout his teenage years, Landers honed his guitar skills by observing and imitating other musicians. He was particularly influenced by artists like Michel Jarre and Ideal. In 1983, he formed a punk band called Feeling B with his friends, including drummer Alexander Krining. Feeling B gained popularity in East Germany and became one of the most well-known punk projects in the country.

In 1994, Landers and Krining were recruited to join a new project called Rammstein. The band quickly gained international success and became known for their powerful and provocative performances. Landers became one of the core members of Rammstein, contributing to their unique sound and stage presence.

Outside of his musical career, Landers has had various jobs, including working as a postal worker, a laborer, and a stoker in a library. He also studied telecommunications and worked in that field for a period of time.

Landers has been married twice and has two children, a son named Emil and a daughter born in 2001. He currently resides in Berlin with his girlfriend and children.

While there have been rumors of Landers and Rammstein keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz working on a solo project together, no official releases have been made. In the meantime, Landers continues to perform with Rammstein and is recognized as one of the most influential guitarists in the metal genre.
